Born in Knoxville, Amanda Wills is has a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in Spanish from the University of Tennessee. In the summer of 2006, she lived in Malaga, Spain where she studied language and culture at the Universidad de Malaga.

Amanda has a passion for foreign relations and thrives on the prospect of her next journey. Along with her contribution to the TNJN staff, she volunteers for UT Programs Abroad and advocates for humanitarian aid in sub-Sahara Africa.
In the fall of 2007, Amanda lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she studied magazine journalism and Latin American journalism at the Universidad del Salvador .
In February, she was awarded the Alex Haley/Playboy Interview scholarship for 2008. Amanda was also awarded a first place Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Region 12 award for her story, “Organization strives to aid crisis in Darfur .”
